Essential Killing Named to France's Top Ten

    {mosimage}WARSAW: Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski's film Essential Killing has been named one of the ten best films of 2011 by the French "Cahiers du Cinema" critics.

    It was the fourth time a Skolimowski film made it onto the prestigious list.

    Essential Killing is the story of an Afghan captured by American soldiers for killing three of their comrades. He escapes from his prison to commit another crime. The film received awards at international festivals including Venice IFF and wa the winner of the Best Film prize at the Gdynia Film Festival.

    The film is an international coproduction with executive producer Skopia Film (www.skopiafilm.com) from Poland in coproduction with Cylinder Productions ( www.cylinder.no) from Norway, Element Pictures (www.elementpictures.ie) from Ireland and Mythberg Films (www.mythbergfilms.hu) from Hungary in association with Canal + Poland (www.canalplus.pl) and Syrena Films (www.syrenafilms.com).
