The Summer of Sangaile by Lithuanian director Alantė Kavaitė will be the first Lithuanian film to compete in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition. The film is a Lithuanian/French/Dutch coproduction from Lithuanian production company Fralita Films and received support from the Lithuanian Film Center.

Croatia is sending a short film, the German-Croatian co-production The Chicken, directed by Una Gunjak. The film will be competing in the international short film competition.

Romania is represented in the World Documentary Competition with the UK/Romanian/German coproduction Chuck Norris vs. Communism directed by Ilinca Calugareanu. The film was coproduced by 4Proof Films.
