MIPTV attendance drops

    MIPTV reported attendance of 11,500 industry executives from 105 countries at the 2009 market (March 30-April 3), a drop of some 14%.

    At MIPDOC, the preceding weekend, participating companies were down 9%, with 448 companies from 58 countries represented.

    Among the deals announced during MIPTV was the sale of France's Calt International comedy series Camera Cafe to Romanian producer MVM.

    Cyber Group reported several sales of programs to CEE stations. Slovenia's RTV picked up the Christmas special Winter Adventures. Duna TV of Hungary and Mini Mini of Poland picked up Manon, which also secured a DVD release in Slovenia through Video Art, while Hungary's TV2 acquired Mission 414.

    MIPTV noted a greater presence of Chinese companies, as well as more integration of new media companies including IPTV, mobile, and web businesses.
