Slovak TV faces financial reform

By FNE Staff

The Slovak minister of culture and tourism, Daniel Krajcer, has announced plans to change the financing of Slovak public TV (www.stv.sk ) and radio, according to a report in Slovak publication The Daily.

The proposal includes abolishing TV license fees, which should be in effect by the end of 2011. The funding for the public media will come directly from the state budget instead.

Krajcer also proposed establishing legal requirements for content, which he maintains will keep the stations free from politrical influence.
