By Ondrej Starinsky

Zuzana Ťapáková was named new executive director of Slovak leading commercial station TV Markíza (www.markiza.sk) on 19 October 2010. She was selected for the post by a council of the TV station's representatives, headed by Petr Dvořák, Central European Media Enterprises (CME, http://www.cetv-net.com) vice president.

She replaces Vaclav Mika, who resigned in at the end of September.

Along with her duties at TV Markiza, she will also manage the three other CME-owned TV stations in the region: TV Doma (http://doma.markiza.sk/), Nova Sport, and Czechoslovak MTV (www.mtv.nova.cz).

Ťapáková studied theatre and film theory at the Academy of Musical and Performing Arts in Bratislava. She began her career working in research at Slovak Radio. After 1989 she moved to advertising agency GGK for three years, and then left for MARK/BBDO. Since its establishment in 1996 she has worked at TV Markíza where she was a member of top management and the Director of Marketing.
