FESTIVALS: Ljubljana Kingfisher for Take Shelter

    LJUBLJANA: The Ljubljana IFF (LIFFe, www.liffe.si) awarded its main prize, the Kingfisher Award, to Take Shelter directed by Jeff Nichols, at the festival's closing ceremony on 19 November 2011.

    The Dragon Audience Award went to Beyond directed by Pernilla August, with an average score of 4.67.

    The FIPRESCI was given to Historias que so existem quando lembradas directed by Julie Murat.

    The External World directed by David O'Reilly won the Best Short Film Award, and Croatian director Juraj Lerotic received a special mention in the category for Onda vidim Tanju.

    Slovenian films were awarded in the Itak Director Competition. First prize went to Simetrija directed by Manja Potočnik; second prize went to Kriza by Mitja Mlakar, Mojca Pernat, Miha Šubic, and Nejc Petek; and third prize: film Say No to TV by Tadej Resnik and Dejan Ulaga.

    The festival screened 143 films in Ljubljana and Maribor, Slovenia's second city, registering 48,531 visitors.
