FNE at Slovenian Film Festival 2012: Competition: Tango Abrazos Tango Abrazos, director Metod Pevec

POTOROZ: Tango Abrazos, the new feature film from the renowned Slovene film director Metod Pevec competing at the 15th Festival of Slovenian Film (www.fsf.si) running through 30 September 2012, is an urban drama with elements of a dance film.

Two couples’ lives are changed when they enroll in a dance school for tango – a dance that symbolises passion and desire. Tjaša and Lena convince their partners to attend dance lessons and although it seems that both couples are happily settled, but things soon become complicated, as both men and then their girlfriends start to discover feelings long thought gone.

Pevec said that he became intrigued by the Slovene habit of shaking hands instead of hugging. As one of the most elementary definitions of tango calls it “hugging and walking,” he saw it as the kernel for a very Slovene story.

Film was produced by Danijel Hočevar of Vertigo/Emotionfilm (www.emotionfilm.si) in coproduction with RTV Slovenija (www.rtvslo.si).
