Golden Boll Film Festival: Where the Fire Burns

    ADANA: Where the Fire Burns, the last part of Ismail Gunes’ Place Trilogy, screens in the Turkish National Competition.

    The film was released theatrically in Turkey on 5 May 2012 and had its international premiere in the 2012 Montreal World Film Festival’s competition.

    The shooting lasted for almost four years. Where the Fire Burns is a cultural road movie set in Mugla and inspired by a true story. The story is about a young single woman who is pregnant, which goes against Turkish customs in some parts of the country. Her family decides to have her killed.

    The cast includes Hakan Karahan, Elifcan Ongurlar and Yesim Ceren Bozoglu. Gunes is a veteran director who has been making films for 30 years. The film received the ‘Best Film’, ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Male Performance’ awards from the Turkish Magazine Journalist Association.

    The film is supported by Culture Ministry (www.sinema.gov.tr) and produced by Sarmasik Sanatlar (www.sarmasiksanatlar.com).
