#FEEDback - Film Eastern Europe Dialogue

Transilvania International Film Festival - Industry, Connecting Cottbus during the Cottbus Film Festival and When East Meets West during the Trieste Film Festival with the support of EAVE - European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs are launching #FEEDback (Film Eastern Europe Dialogue)

#FEEDback is a think tank platform with the aim to collect and discuss assessments in East European countries on possible means and ways to increase cross-border relations, the permeability between the small territories and moving towards a joint agenda on funding, reaching audience and innovative distribution. To further enhance the interest and strengthen the visibility of East-West co-operation, the results of this platform will be presented at the European Film Market at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2016.

The development during the past 25 years of the East European cinema was mainly possible as a direct result of the regional outstanding talent, but in terms of financing the Western European countries such as Germany and France, the European Commission through the Creative Europe MEDIA programme and the Council's of Europe Eurimages fund have played an important role. It comes now naturally for the East Europeans to look more consistently to each other, to their neighboring countries and start building a network based on public institution partnerships that would lead to a better ground, fertile for own audiovisual sector to develop, finance as well as support for its content to reach its own audience.

Transilvania IFF as the first and most important film event in Romania, widely known for its beginnings alongside the Romanian birth of the new cinema, Connecting Cottbus the pioneer Western European co-production platform dedicated to support and discover new Eastern European talent and When East Meets West the fast growing industry hub where each year Eastern European film professionals are brought in a line-up head to head with focused regions, are working together to be the facilitators of a year long back and forth dialogue platform, between different actors, stake holders and decision makers from the region and in relation with Eastern European film industry. #FEEDback will not only expose the current situation, but will as well propose new paths to develop the Eastern European cinema landscape.

#FEEDback will be structured in three working group events :

    1. June 2015, during Transilvania IFF (Cluj, Romania)

FUNDING - 360 degrees opportunities from development to distribution, training and festival platforms.

    2.   November 2015, Connecting Cottbus East-West Co-Production market(Cottbus, Germany)

    AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING

    3.   January 2016, When East Meets West Co-Production Market (Trieste, Italy)

    DISTRIBUTION AND FESTIVALS

Each event will have two components, the working session between the invited key decision makers, national funding bodies from the region and supranational and the interactive session with a wider audience moderated by an expert.

Among the members first working group taking place in Cluj, June 6th, Roberto Olla - Eurimages, Hrvoje Hribar - Croatian Audiovisual Center, Robert Balinski - Polish Film Institute, Alexandra Strelkova, - Slovak Film Institute, Alessandro Gropplero - RE-ACT, Ellin Ericchsen - Norwegian Film Institute, Ada Solomon film producer. The group work will be lead by Snežana Marić, Acting Manager Film Center Serbia, while the public event will be moderated bySimon Perry (Head of production Film i Vast).

#FEEDback will be the starting point for building a joint audiovisual agenda, raising a common voice, create one dialog partnerand be a good practice guide for the countries that are now on their first steps on the path to join the European family. It is not only a sign of industry 's maturity, but as well a sign that diversity is a common ground, reason to look next door and not only within our own country borders.
