Febiofest Industry days 2021: Bitcoin for Filmmakers

Use the latest innovations to get paid for your content! In just 4 lessons, you’ll get a good understanding of Bitcoin, the Lightning Network and Podcasting 2.0 and become comfortable using them. You will set up your own lightning wallet, prepare your website for a crowdfunding or start accepting micropayments for your content - be it film or audio.

With the current market uncertainties and expected global economic crisis as a post-covid aftermath, it is increasingly important for artists to rethink their financing strategies and build alternative revenue channels. Digital currencies have been around for over 10 years now, and despite initial distrust and many misconceptions, we hear more and more voices from the traditional financial world embracing Bitcoin and starting to understand its benefits.

On the first day we will discuss the value of Bitcoin, and why it makes sense for you to start using it. You will understand its benefits and how to make use of the bitcoin payment network for selling your content. The second day will be a hands-on lecture on using bitcoin and lightning network wallets and understanding the blockchain records.

It is important that you also understand the best practices - what to do and what not to do as a bitcoiner in order to keep your money safe and transactions private. This will be the topic of the third session and the last but most important fourth session will be all about implementing your own solution for crowdfunding or selling your creative content for BTC. Please be mindful that for the 4th lesson, we work with the assumption that you have some (any) website, where you are able to upload and install software. The sessions will be recorded and available to you also post-event.
