How to answer the essential question: What is my film really about? - and turn your personal motivation into a creative and strategic asset?

How to build your film’s identity and brand from the earliest idea stage? How to collaborate effectively and constructively with a producer?

What psychological challenges do documentary filmmakers face during the development and production process? How can these obstacles be identified, understood, and transformed into strengths?

And how can this awareness and vulnerability actually become assets during pitch sessions and one-on-one industry meetings?

Join us for a session with Monika Fraczak for a guided exploration of the internal and external difficulties that often emerge - especially when working on deeply personal or autobiographical stories. Rather than avoiding these challenges, we’ll discuss how to work through them and use them to strengthen your creative voice, project positioning, and industry relationships. Through real-world insights and practical tools, this session aims to empower filmmakers to navigate the emotional and professional complexity of documentary development - and pitch with greater confidence and authenticity.

Don't miss the opportunity to ask your questions and get first-hand answers.

Monika Franczak is a screenwriter and script consultant working internationally across film, TV, animation, and documentary. She specializes in storytelling and pitching, and has led workshops and tutoring sessions throughout Europe. Monika collaborates with production companies, bringing a broad, hands-on perspective to every project.

Her approach to working with film projects is based on identifying the core “DNA” of an idea and skillfully exploring it throughout the entire development process — from pitching, financing, and story structure to production, where she focuses on the treatment of characters and themes during both shooting and editing.

Since 2017, Monika has worked with B2B Doc – the Baltic to Black Sea Documentary Network – first as a tutor and later as a board member. She is also a mentor with the Gaude Polonia scholarship program and an active member of the Polish Screenwriters Guild

This session is supported by Polish Film Institute (PISF) and Creative Industries Development Center (CRPK).
