Directed by Marina Andree Škop and Vanda Raýmanová, Extraordinary has quickly emerged as one of the region’s standout family titles. In its first two weeks in cinemas, the film was seen by 28,806 viewers in Croatia and 3,868 viewers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with audiences across the region responding exceptionally well to its blend of mystery, humour and emotion. Blending the suspense of a children’s detective adventure with a warm story about friendship, togetherness and embracing differences, Extraordinary tells a story designed to connect with both children and family audiences.
The film is distinguished by its strong visual identity, rich colour palette and distinctive style, shaped by director of photography Tomislav Sutlar, production designer Stefano Katunar, costume designer Zorana Meić, and animation and VFX supervisor Michal Struss.
BUFF is one of Europe’s leading festivals dedicated to children’s and youth cinema. Founded in 1984, it is a member of the European Children’s Film Association (ECFA).
The young cast is led by Marta Mihanović as Alisa and Maks Kleončić as Milan, alongside Mark Spiridonović, Martin Pišlar and Andrija Lamot as the young detectives. The adult cast includes Slovenian actors Ajda Smrekar and Matej Puc, Croatian actors Judita Franković Brdar, Borko Perić, Snježana Sinovčić Šiškov, Dražen Čuček, Slavko Sobin and Željko Duvnjak, and Slovak actors Csongor Kassai and Gabriela Dzuríková.
Produced by the Croatian company PomPom Film, Extraordinary is an international co-production with Objectif (Slovakia), Senca Studio (Slovenia), Air Productions (Latvia), This and That Productions, 247HUB and Spotlight Production (Serbia), in association with Slovak Television and Radio and Radiotelevizija Slovenija.
The film is produced by Marina Andree Škop, Tibor Keser and Vanda Raýmanová. Co-producers are Ida Weiss, Antra Gaile, Līga Gaisa, Snežana van Houwelingen, Nemanja Ćipranić, Igor Vranjković and Đorđe Đukanović.
