HOME in SPI Distribution

SPI International has acquired the exclusive distribution rights for HOME, a unique round-the-world documentary journey that celebrates Earth's beauty and delicate harmony in an effort to raise environmental awareness.

HOME will be released worldwide on June 5, 2009 in cinemas, on television and via DVD in conjunction with World Environment Day, established by the United Nations in 1972. SPI is in charge of distribution of HOME for Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.

"We are delighted to be involved in such a unique movie event and to work on this important cause" said Loni Farhi , the president of SPI International, in an announcement on November 19, 2008

"This film marks also another cornerstone in SPI's long standing relationship with EUROPACORP " he added.

HOME is the product of an unusual collaboration between producer Luc Besson and director-photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand, creator of the internationally acclaimed "Earth from Above," an interactive photographic project originally funded by UNESCO. 120 free outdoor exhibitions took place in 55 countries gathering around 130 million visitors.

Exclusively filmed from above the Earth, the film reveals astonishing - but also wounded - landscapes in more than 50 countries, from the depth of the Australian coral reef to the Gobi Desert, and from the cotton fields of Texas to the industrialized city of Shanghai. The documentary follows water currents, roads and biodiverse communities across borders and cultures to offer a new perspective and awareness on the need to protect the planet.

The film provides concrete evidence of the challenges ahead for sustainable development: global warming, deforestation, the loss of biodiversity and the exhaustion of resources.

Since Home carries a universal message, efforts are being made to ensure the widest global audience possible. Home will be the first film to be released simultaneously in more than 85 countries via every media: prime-time television, cinemas, and DVD. A book with stills taken from the movie, and the original soundtrack, will also be made available on June 5.
