KARLOVY VARY: Film production in the Czech Republic rose 23% in 2013, to more than 5 billion CZK with most of the increase due to foreign film production which rose 82% to 2.84 billion CZK.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian young generation director Lina Lužytė is working on her debut feature film Do You Love Me? (Ar tu mane myli?).

TRENSIANSKE TEPLICE: Slovakia will have a domestic fairytale in cinemas in October 2014 with the premiere of Laska na Vlasku, a 15th century romance directed by Mariana Cengel Solcanska, and the first Slovak fairytale made in almost 15 years.

VILNIUS: Popular Finnish director Antti J. Jokinen is shooting the feature film Kätilö (Wildeye) in Vilnius, Lithuania. The director is known for his work on The Resident (2011), Puhdistus (2012) and Nightwish: End of an Era (2006).

RIGA: The Latvian/Greek/German coproduction Modris, a debut feature by Latvian director Juris Kursietis, is set to be released in Latvia on 24 October 2014.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak documentary filmmaker Miro Remo is finishing work on Vrbovský veter, his second documentary after his award-winning short student documentary Arsy-Versy

WARSAW: Jacek Bromski will start shooting the thriller Anatomy of Evil on 24 June 2014 in Warsaw and Szczecin.

VILNIUS: The Lithuanian feature film Crisis from young film director Andrius Blaževičius is in preproduction.

RIGA: The Latvian-Finnish coproduction of Viesturs Kairiss’s historical drama Chronicles of Melanie (Melanijas hronika) resumes shooting in April with another filming segment scheduled for August 2014.

TALLINN: Finnish director Klaus Harö is shooting The Fencer (Vehkleja), planned to premiere in spring 2015, in Estonia.
