Blueberry spirits tells the ghost stories of the small Gypsy family who spend their summers living in forest. Every member of the small community has experienced several scary encounters with the ones from the other world. These meetings change the behavior of the Gypsy family. They often move because of the unwanted visitors. In film the visualized ghost stories do alternate with the events from the main characters' everyday life. It feels in the air that the two worlds are going to meet again.

Prague, 11 April 2011 – The Czech Film Center will be presenting three events at this year’s 24th annual festival of Czech films, Finále Plzeň. In addition to the traditional Panel of Upcoming Feature and Animated Films (April 22), there will also be a showing of Czech Short Films from the collection of Czech Short Films vol. II (April 20). This year, in cooperation with the Czech Film Commission, a Location Tour of Plzeň Region Sights (April 21) will also be held for the first time.

The Czech Film Centre has also been intensively involved in short cinematic work, which can open the gates to the international world of cinema for beginning filmmakers. On Wednesday 20 April from 7:30 p.m. in the Mayor’s Room in Měšťanská beseda there will be a showing of short films from the collection of Czech Short Films Vol. II, which CFC issued at the beginning of this year. This will involve films from the production of the following film schools: FAMU, FAMO Písek, Film School Zlín and the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague.

The invited directors and guests will be introduced after the projection of their films. Jan Vejnar and Jaromír Císař have confirmed their participation at this time. CFC’s showing will be followed by a collection of films produced by the Institute of Art and Design of the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň.
The anthological DVD Czech Short Films 2011 Vol. II was released in January 2011 as the second part of an edition of DVDs of short films that CFC started issuing in 2010. This year’s disc is also enhanced with French and German titles, which means a greater opportunity for the films to find a place in foreign festivals. CFC first presented the DVD at the festival and market of short films in Clermont-Ferrand in January, on the basis of which films have already been selected for roughly ten film festivals.

On Thursday, 21 April the CFC and Czech Film Commission will hold a day-long Location Tour of Sights in the Plzeň Region in cooperation with the regional branch of the National Heritage Institute in Plzeň and with the support of CzechTourism. Film professionals will have the opportunity to see historical buildings and get to know the possibilities and conditions for filming in the Kladruby monastery, Horšovský Týn state castle and chateau, Švihov castle and moat and Červené Poříčí state chateau.

On Friday, 23 April from 10:30 a.m. the traditional Panel of Feature and Animated Films will take place in the Small Hall of the Měšťanská beseda. For the tenth time producers, directors and scriptwriters will be presenting a selection of twenty projects. Thus the festival will continue to work as a platform for Czech cinema and the Czech film industry. A Czech-English brochure, which contains a total of 84 projects that are under development, will be available to the visitors of the panel and will subsequently be distributed at all the festivals at which CFC presents Czech cinematography.

Czech Republic the Guest Country at the Festival of Short Films in Barcelona – the audience will see Švankmajer and films from young authors

My father and I get into an old camper and head for Paris where, 23 years ago, he dispersed his mother's ashes in the Luxembourg Garden. Our trip will take two weeks. We're both documentary filmmakers so we've decided to make a film recording the journey. We stop at camper parks or gas stations for the night. We each have a camera to keep the conditions fair and so we're both the directors and protagonists at the same time. My father is 70, I am 44. We discuss various things - family history, difficult past, my father's divorces. Any question is allowed. The journey is a pretext to get to know each other a little better.

East European Forum is the largest co-production meeting for creative documentary projects in development and production from Central and Eastern Europe. At the Forum, producers and directors offer their projects for co-production, pre-buy or acquisition. September 30, 2011 is the industry registration deadline for the entire INDUSTRY PROGRAMME:
East European Forum, East Silver Market and the Doc Launch presentation are the central events of the Industry Programme organized in Jihlava by the Institute of Documentary Film since 2001. The Industry Programme includes Industry Screenings, one-on-one meetings at the Project Market, country-themed Co-production Breakfasts, Case Studies, Master Classes, Networking Dinners, Seminars and other forms of support for documentary films. In 2011, the Industry Programme is expected to host around 100 representatives of European and North American broacasters, festivals, distributors, sales agents and film funds. In addition, it will be attended by some 400 filmmakers, producers, representatives of film institutions, organizations and schools. TWO FILMS PRODUCED BY APPLE FILM PRODUCTION: "BETWEEN TWO FIRES", THE POLISH-SWEDISH FEATURE FILM DEBUT OF AGNIESZKA LUKASIAK, AND "MY AUSTRALIA", THE POLISH-ISRAELI DEBUT OF AMI DROZD, WERE SELECTED FOR THE POLISH FEATURE FILM COMPETITION OF INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF INDEPENDENT CINEMA OFF PLUS CAMERA 2011

Krakow, 1st April 2011 - National competition of 51st Krakow Film Festival (23rd -29th May) includes 35 titles. The winner of the national competition will be awarded with the Golden Hobby-Horse.

It is for the first time that feature documentaries enter the national competition. Two of them participate also in the international competition: "The Doctors" by Tomasz Wolski, currently in the post-production phase, and "Phnom Penh Lullaby" by Paweł Kloc, which has already been invited to three foreign festivals: in Nyon, Sheffield, and Toronto. Among feature films, there is also "Pomeranian Illusions" by Jacob Dammas and Helge Renner, which may move the audience just like "North from Calabria" did last year.

Marcel Łoziński, a Polish documentary classic, will present his most recent production, "Tonia and her children". - says Krzysztof Gierat,
festival director - This year we will have the opportunity not only to thank him for his regular presence at the Festival, but also to congratulate him on his birthday, a round anniversary coming up. It was after a nomination at our Festival that his "Poste Restante" was awarder with the European Film Award.

Once again, we have the pleasure of watching many talented laureates come back with their new films. Among them, there are Marcin Sauter,
Maciej Cuske, and Wojciech Staroń, whose "Argentinian Lesson" participates also in the international competition. These films comment not only on our Polish reality; filmmakers more and more often turn to the exotic parts of the world. This year, we will visit Cambodia, Argentina, Cuba, Kalmykia and Kyrgyzstan, Syria, and Lebanon. Having taken its rather absurd title from Marcin Świetlicki's song, "Jewish Moon" presents an unexpected spiritual transformation of a young soccer yob, while "Paparazzi" (also in the international competition) is a dynamic story about a photojournalist who, employing a rather particular ethic code, hunts his prey like a hound.

Debuts are also awaiting; they are always mostly anticipated because of the fame of the Polish documentary school. - continues Krzyszof Gierat - I am sure that there are award candidates among the debutants.

What about the fiction film category? Can we expect a fierce competition between two previous laureates of the Festival: Kuba Czekaj and Magnus von Horn? Or maybe they will be beaten by the only woman in this section, Julia Kolberger, or by Maciej Bochniak and Sławomir Shuty, whose insane, and very Krakow-like in its cast, "The Room" will be premiered here?

In the animation category, we will see films both from awarded, well-known filmmakers like Dragon of Dragons laureates - the Quay Brothers and a many times winner in Krakow - Piotr Dumała and from young authors, often still students. A new production from Damian Nenow will be presented by Platige Image studio.

Investors tune in to KINO POLSKA TV S.A.

Last week Kino Polska TV S.A. had priced its initial public offering at 9,50 zlotys per share, valuing its entire share sale at 38 million zlotys.

For the time being, Kino Polska TV S.A. is owner of Kino Polska TV which occupied the second place between most popular movie channels in Poland last year. Moreover, the Warsaw-based company also produces and distributes stations of the FilmBox group in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary. It is also the owner of a majority share in Stopklatka.pl., a film portal which has been awarded by the Polish Film Institute for its contribution to the development of Polish cinematography. Last year Stopklatka.pl debuted on the New Connect market.

Kino Polska TV S.A. is offering 4 million new shares in the IPO in the following series:
1,000,000 New Shares for the Small Investors Tranche (TMI)
3,000,000 New Shares for the Large Investors Tranche (TDI)

New investors will get about 28 percent of the firm after the IPO. Kino Polska TV S.A. will use the funds to develop its offer and invest in its infrastructure introducing new thematic channels.

"In the near future we are planning to offer Kino Polska HD, a channel that will enable the reception of Kino Polska Television channels in High Definition and Kino Polska Muzyka which will feature the history of Polish popular music", said Piotr Reisch, President of Kino Polska TV S.A. Management Board. "In addition, we are currently working on extending our premium services with new television channels from the FilmBox group: FilmBox Action, FashionBox as well as FightBox".

The winners of 16th Vilnius international film festival were announced during the official closing ceremony in the evening of March 31 in Vilnius, Lithuania.

A film by Romanian director Bogdan George Apetri „Outbound" (Periferic) was announced the winner of competition programme „New Europe - new names". The statue and the monetary prize by Vilnius city was awarded to film‘s associate producer Mihaela Popescu.

The special mention was given to Turkish actor Bartu Kucukcaglayan for his role in film „Majority" (Cogunluk). Second special mention was given to the actors of Slovak film „The House", the prize was awarded to the director of the movie Zuzana Liova.

The jury of competition programme was headed by director Milcho Manchevskij, other members were: Nadya Turyncev, producer, Alante Kavaitė, director and script writer, Gary McVey, director of American cinema foundation and Fred Kelemen, director and cinematographer.

CICAE jury also evaluated the films of competition programme and decided that the best film to fit into European independent film theatres is the film „On the path" (Na putu) by Bosnian director Jasmila Zbanic. The award was given to Croatian actress Zrinka Cvitesic. The members of CICAE jury, who came to Vilnius, are - Tejinder Jouhal from Institute of Contemporary art (ICA) London, Peter Muscatics, communication director of Hungary's leading international film festival CineFest and Christopher Gatt, General Manager of St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Malta.

16th Vilnius international film festival‘s audience award went to Canadian drama „Incendies", by Denis Villeneuve. The audience in Vilnius liked this film so much, that all the screenings of this film were a sold-out and not even four additional screenings were enough.

For the first time this year the audience voted for best Lithuanian movie. The audience decided, that the best Lithuanian movie this year is „Knygnešys" (Book smuggler) by Jonas Trukanas.

The best debut Lithuanian director was awarded for the second year and this time the award went to Mantas Kvedaravičius and his documentary "Barzakh".
