The Countdown is on for the 16th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and the largest film event in Northern Europe is to open with Leos Carax’s Holy Motors. The two week film festival will be topped by an Asian filmmakers’ tour de force at the Industry Days.

ANKARA: The 18th Festival on Wheels (www.festivalonwheels.org), 30 November – 10 December 2012, unveiled nine outstanding films that will screen in the Turkish Cinema 2012 section.

FNE spoke with Zuzana Mistriková about the current situation of the Slovak film industry three years after the creation of the Slovak Audiovisual Fund (www.avf.sk). For Slovak films, 2012 was a good year, with two films competing for an Academy Award nomination.

BRATISLAVA: The 14th Bratislava International Film Festival (www.iffbratislava.com) which opens on 9 November 2012 and runs through 15 November unveils a new Slovak competition section and increase services for industry professionals with the addition of a new festival center.

TALLINN: Feature debuts from the Baltic and Nordic countries will compete in the new Tridens Herring competition programme at the Black Nights film festival (www.poff.ee), running 12-28 November 2012.
