BUDAPEST: Benő Baranyi is currently in postproduction with his debut feature Zanox, a sci-fi comedy about a high school student who, after consuming an experimental medicine with palinka, is able to travel through time. The cast includes Hungarian and Romanian actors.

BUDAPEST: The National Film Institute - Hungary is organising, for the fourth time, the Budapest Classics Film Marathon. Budapest’s largest international film event will begin on 21 September 2021. The six-day celebration offers more than 70 recently restored classics in themed sections at various venues around the capital.

The film is a coming-of-age story about a group of nine friends who reunite ten years after graduation.

BUDAPEST: A ten-part big budget Hungarian series Rise of the Raven (working title) is being made about John Hunyadi, a leading Hungarian military and political figure in the 15th century, who is also called the saviour of Europe after defeating the Ottoman Empire at the siege of Nándorfehérvár, present day Belgrade.

BUDAPEST: Balázs Krasznahorkai's family drama Ravine / Hasadék debuted and won the best feature film prize at the Hungarian Motion Picture Festival, which took place in Veszprém 23 - 26 June 2021. The film depicts a troubled father and son relationship, starring a Hungarian doctor Bálint, who returns from Budapest to his Transylvanian hometown among the Maramures Mountains for his father's funeral.

BALATONFÜRED: The jury of the Hungarian Film Academy chaired by István Márta chose Ravine / Hasadék by Balázs Krasznahorkai as the best feature film at the Hungarian Motion Picture Awards, which were given out in 20 categories at the Anna Grand Hotel in Balatonfüred on 26 June 2021.

BUDAPEST: The Berlin-based sales company M-Appeal has acquired the distribution rights to the Hungarian/Slovak coproduction Wild Roots / Külön Falka. Hajni Kis’ debut feature will have a market screening at Pre-Cannes Screenings 2021.
