Wild Roots was produced by Juli Berkes (Proton Cinema) and Balázs Zachar in coproduction with Mátyás Prikler and Zora Jaurová (MPhilms). The Hungarian/Slovak coproduction was granted 175,565 EUR / 62 m HUF by the National Film Institute – Hungary after it won the Incubator Programme established to support first features. The project, which is also supported by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, has won the Works-in-Progress Award at Karlovy Vary Film Festival’s First Cut Lab programme.

Wild Roots  will debut at one of the A-grade festivals later in 2021. Locarno, Karlovy Vary, Venice, Warsaw and Tallinn are all likely candidates.
