PRODUCTION: Flower Square in Production

    ZAGREB: Croatian director Krsto Papić has begun shooting his feature film Flower Square (working title). Filming commenced on 10 April 2011 in Zagreb, and is scheduled to wrap on 20 May. The entire film will be shot on location in Zagreb.

    Flower Square is produced by Ozana Film d.o.o. (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and Croatian Radio and Television (www.hrt.hr), with funding from the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (www.havc.hr).

    The contemporary story portrays an average family from Zagreb that accidentally becomes a mafia target and their efforts to escape from the mafia's reach. The film was written by Mate Matišić, based on his 2009 drama Balloon and Papić's documentary film Citizens in Flower Square, portraying the murder of an innocent victim in central Zagreb in 1999. The documentary premiered at the recent 2011 ZagrebDox (www.zagrebdox.net).

    Flower Square is Papić's tenth feature film. His previous credits include Handcuffs (1969), Izbavitelj (1976), Tajna Nikole Tesle (1980), Život sa stricem (1988), and Kad mrtvi zapjevaju (1998).

    The cast includes Dražen Kühn, Dragan Despot, Mladen Vulić, Anja Šovagović, Marija Škaričić, Matija Prskalo, Goran Grgić and Ivica Zadro. The cinematographer is Branko Cahun, set designer Mario Ivezić, costume designer Lena Andrijević, make-up artist Irena Hadrović, and production manager Mario Orešković.
