Based on a popular children series under the same title, also directed by Thale Petersen, the feature follows a Norwegian family who have to save Christmas which is endangered by evil.

According to the Czech media, shooting takes place in various castles and at Barrandov Studios. The Czech company Film Kolektiv is coproducing. The project benefitted from the State Cinematography Fund’s incentives programme.

In 2012 another Norwegian film was shot in the Czech Republic, Journey To The Christmas Star/ Reisen til julestjernen by Nils Gaup.
