Film Incentives Pump 5 Billion CZK into Czech Economy

By

KARLOVY VARY: The system of incentives that was introduced in 2010 by the State Cinematography Fund has created a 12% rise in spending by foreign film companies in the Czech Republic, according to a report by APA the Czech Audiovisual Producers Association.

It is anticipated that fully realised incentives in 2014 could inject as much as 5 billion CZK into the Czech economy.

The Czech incentive scheme offers filmmakers cash rebates on qualifying Czech and international spending. This is partly due to a budgetary increase for film incentives by the State Fund for Cinematography from 300 million CZK in 2012 to 500 million CZK in 2013, and to 800 million CZK in 2014.
