By

PRAGUE: The Czech State Cinematography Fund selected ten films from 31 applications to receive minority coproduction funding. A total of 769,971 EUR / 20m CZK was allocated for this call, which included feature films, documentaries and animation.

The Council gave preference to projects which are already in production or soon will be, and those with a strong creative position for the Czech coproducer. Eleven of the projects which applied had a Slovak majority coproducer, four Latvian, three each Slovenian and Croatian, and one project each with Danish, Polish, French, US, German, Lithuanian, Greek and Romanian producers.

Only one of the awarded projects has a Czech director announced, Andrea Sedlackova for Backstage. The amounts awarded ranged from 200,000 CZK for an animation film to 4 m CZK for two projects (one Polish and one Slovak) with established directors attached.

The results were announced on Friday, 29 September 2017.
