TBILISI: Georgian producers are studying up on the French system of film support, under the tutelage of Eric Garandeau, president of the French Film Center (CNC), who on Saturday presented a workshop and honored Tamar Tatishvili - Georgia’s representative at Eurimages - with the title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.

Offering expertise dating back to 1946, the CNC, with a budget last year of 749 million Euro, supports the development of French film industry, distribution and export, digitalization of theaters and television program financing.

Tatishvili's award, established by the CNC in 1957, is bestowed by France upon people who have made a special contribution to the development of culture and various fields of art.

Garandeau, who was cultural advisor to president Nicolas Sarkozy from 2007 to 2010, was invited by the Georgian National Film Center (www.gnfc.ge). Tatishvili is former director of the film center.
