Blockade Scores Most Nominations at Hungarian Motion Picture Awards

    BUDAPEST: Our Blossom, Blockade, Six Weeks, Larry and Heights and Depths compete for the Best Hungarian Feature Film Award at the Hungarian Motion Picture Awards. The awards ceremony will take place on 10 June 2023 at the Hungarian Motion Picture Festival, which is jointly organised by the National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI) and the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 – European Capital of Culture programme.

    The biographical drama about Prime Minister József Antall, Blockade by Ádám Tősér received the most nominations, 15, closely followed by Heights and Depths by Sándor Csoma. The intimate drama dealing with the mourning of Hilda Sterczer, widow of a famous mountaineer, is up for 14 awards.

    Six Weeks by Noémi Veronika Szakonyi was nominated for eight awards, while Larry by Szilárd Bernáth is competing in six categories. The former is about a teenage girl who has six weeks to decide if she wants to keep her baby or not. The latter tells the story of a stutterer shepherd who realises his speech impediment disappears when he starts rapping.
