Malta Pursues Unpaid License Fees

By FNE Staff
The Maltese government is threatening to take legal action against households that have not paid TV license fees, local media reports.

According to the Times of Malta, some 35,000 households had not paid the annual fee as of October.

The warning comes just as Malta is about to abolish TV license fees altogether. The government will send out its last notice for payment at the end of 2011. No further annual fees will be due from 1 January 2012. The fees amount to some 4 million euros annually across the nation.
