FESTIVALS: 11th IFF New Horizons Opens

    WROCLAW: The 11th New Horizons Film Festival www.nowehoryzonty.pl (21-31 July 2011) opened with Berlinale winner Nader And Simin, A Separation by Asghar Farhadi and Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Once Upon a Time in Anatolia.

    The closing film is Pedro Almodovar's The skin I Live In. Around 430 films (including 230 feature films) from over 50 countries will be shown in Wroclaw during the event. The festival audience and international juries, among them Frédéric Boyer, Anocha Suwichakornpong, Denis Côté and Dimitris Eipides, will award 70,000 Euros in prizes in five competitions and distribution guarantees to at least four feature-length films.

    More than 400 industry guests are confirmed and special industry events are planned on the 23-26 July (New Horizons Studio) and 26-28 July (Polish-Norwegian Co-production Forum). Representatives of Trust Nordisk, Memento, LevelK, Opus Film, Maipo, Storm Studios and many Polish TV buyers and distributors will attend. Among the confirmed guests are Terry Gilliam, Kim Ki-Duk, Bela Tarr and Bruno Dumont.
