    WROCŁAW: Leszek Dawid's original take on the legendary Polish hip hop band, You Are God, tells the story of the meteoric rise of the band Paktofonika and the suicide of a its leader at the height of its fame.

    You Are God was shot on location in Katowice and the Silesia region and produced by Studio Filmowe KADR (www.sfkadr.com) in co-production with Silesia Film (www.silesiafilm.com.pl), The Chimney Pot (www.chimney.pl), and Kino Świat (www.kinoswiat.pl). The 4.6 m PLN (1.1 m EUR) film received 2.5 m PLN in financing from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl). The producer told FNE that the film a long time in the making, preceded by consultations with fans of the band and film professionals in the form of open readings of the script, where it was very well received. The Polish theatrical release is planned for 9 November 2012, distributed by Kino Świat (www.kinoswiat.pl). The film premiered at the 2012 Gdynia Film Festival (www.fpff.pl) where it received awards for Best Directing Debut, Best Acting Debut and Best Supporting Actor.

    Dawid is a Polish director and  screenwriter whose debut feature film, Ki (My Name Is Ki, www.piramidafilm.pl), premiered at Venice at went on to win prizes festivals in Paris, Cottbus, Gdynia and Cracow.

    Studio Filmowe Kadr, a legendary film studios in the history of Polish cinema, began the new chapter in its operations in 2008. The studio's three new productions: Borys Lankosz's Reverse, Jan Komasa's Suicide Room, Marek Koterski's Man, Chicks Are Just Different had attendance of over 2 million in the Polish cinemas.
