Poland signs memorandum on film cooperation with Ukraine

    The Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl) has signed a memorandum with Ukraine to support mutual cooperation between their film industries. The first practical effect of the Feb. 5 agreement is a decision that the State Cinematography Service of Ukraine and PISF will contribute financial support for the co-production of the feature film A Heart inYour Hand directed by Krzysztof Zanussi.

    A Heart in Your Hand is a black comedy about a young man named Stefan, who wants to commit suicide but then meets Konstanty, who needs a heart transplant, and both their lives are dramatically changed. The Polish-Ukrainian co-production will be shot in Warsaw and Kiev starting in early March.

    Poland's Wytwórnia Filmów Dokumentalnych I Fabularnych (www.wfdif.com.pl) will be the producer and the co-producer will be Studio Filmowe TOR (www.tor.com.pl). The Ukrainian co-producer will be the Sota Cinema Group.
