FESTIVALS: The 23rd ASTRA Film Festival Announces Lineup

    SIBIU: The 23rd edition of ASTRA Film Festival, one of the most important documentary showcases in Eastern Europe, will run in Sibiu from 17 to 23 October 2016 with eight titles in the main competition and ten in the Central-Eastern European competition.

    The festival is organising four competitions as usually: OutstandDox Award Competition (the former International Competition), the Central-Eastern European Competition, the Romanian Competition and the Student Competition. However, the films are also arranged in themes such as No Place like Dis-place, Doc-vlog, Stories from Urbania, Refurbished Past, Inside Radical Islam, Communist Faiths or Self, Family, Society.

    Astra Film Festival Sibiu is organised by ASTRA Film – Centre for Documentary Film and Visual Education, Department the National Museum ASTRA in Sibiu and by the ASTRA Film Foundation, with the support of the Local Council Sibiu, the Ministry of Culture, the MEDIA Programme, Sibiu City Hall and the Romanian Film Centre. The major partner of the festival is the Romanian Cultural Institute.
