ZILINA: Fest Anca, Slovakia's international festival of animated films running 28 June – 1 July 2018, will shine a spotlight on 25 years of Slovak animation, marking the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Slovakia. In addition to the special focus, the festival will hold its traditional competition of Slovak animated films.

The celebration is a tribute to the Slovak determination to keep the art of animation alive after privatisation eventually resulted in the closing Koliba Film Studio, and the public broadcaster RTVS, the other primary producer of animation, went through a difficult period financially. The selection of films represents the work of a number of younger generation animators.

The festival once again has a vibrant Game Days section with a pitching forum and two full days of presentations, emphasising the importance of the gaming industry to the field of animation in Slovakia.
