FNE at Istanbul IFF 2011: New projects score development funding

    ISTANBUL: Development funding for a number of new feature film projects was announced at the Istanbul IFF (http://film.iksv.org/trrnfor ) Meetings on the Bridge industry event last night. The new Turkish German Development Fund backed jointly by the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg Film Fund, the Hamburg Film Fund and the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism awarded development funding to seven projects out of 13 projects presented for a total of 100 000 Euros. This was the first round of funding to be awarded by the new fund which was a launched last year.

    The annual of the Meetings of the Bridge (14-15 April) also awarded prizes for development funding selecting three projects from among the 12 projects presented at the two day Feature Film Development Workshop. The projects were selected by the selection committee (Tayfun Pirselimoğlu, Sevil Demirci, Isabelle Fauvel) and the advisory board (Ahmet Boyacıoğlu, Yamaç Okur, Zeynep Özbatur Atakan). Prize winners of a cash award of 10 000 USD by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and other development support were selected after one to one meetings with the jury consisting of producers and the representatives of Arte, Binger Lab, Cinelink-Sarajevo Film Festival, Cinemart, Crossroads, Eurimages, Fortissimo Films, Irish Film Board, Sofia Film Festival and Torino Film Lab.
