Your EPI Update: Last Call for SERIES' WOMEN | Clearing Rights & European Co-Production Coming Up

    Dear EPI community,
Applications for SERIES' WOMEN close on 20 September, just days from now, so if leadership, market access and 1:1 mentoring for female drama series producers are on your radar, this is the moment to apply. Beyond that, we look at rights clearance and European co-production, and catch up on Venice, Seriesly Berlin, and an alumnus's pitch win right here in Berlin.

Clearing Rights for Film and TV

Clear rights properly, before they become a costly problem

    ? 8-10 October 2026
    ? In-person workshop | Berlin | English

A script inspired by true events, a Warhol poster in the background, a character humming a pop song in the off: not every right attached to a story is obvious, and clearing it too late gets expensive fast. This workshop covers copyright and its exceptions, personality and music rights, trademark and image rights, and international case studies, led by Katharina Domnick (Brehm & v. Moers).

    Insights from the Industry

Throwback on Venice with European Producers Club

    5th September 2026 | Venice Film Festival

At the Venice Film Festival, we supported the EUROPEAN PRODUCERS CLUB networking event, alongside ACE Producers, EAVE and International Screen Institute. Against the backdrop of the lagoon, we had the chance met producers old and new and gathered valuable input for our Creative Europe MEDIA funded international training programmes Essential Legal Framework and Next Steps.
Thank you to Julie-Jeanne Régnault and Selin Karli for the invitation, and to EPC for the organisation!

Throwback on EPI session at Seriesly Berlin

    15th September 2026 | Mondhuegel am Tacheles | Berlin

What's the secret sauce behind a career in series? At Seriesly Berlin's Bar Talk with EPI, Sophya Kallista Frohberg (Producer at Letterbox Filmproduktion, SERIES' WOMEN participant) and our own Victoria Vosseberg (Project Coordination at EPI International & Winterclass alumna) shared candid insights on what these programmes really offer beyond the classroom: sharpening projects, building confidence, finding the right people, and opening doors internationally, moderated by our Gabriela Seidel-Holländer (Project Manager at EPI International, responsible for the European Female Leadership Programmes).

Thank you, Sophya and Victoria, for the conversation, Gabriela for the putting together this gathering and to everyone who joined us at the bar!

Curious to experience it yourself? Applications for Winterclass close on 2 October, and for SERIES' WOMEN on 20 September.

Winner of Seriesly Pitching Session | #highlight on EPI Alumni

    #AlumniHighlight: Congratulations, Sergei!

We're thrilled: EPI alumnus Sergei Serpuhov won the Seriesly Berlin Pitch Award in the Co-Pro category with his project "The Man Behind a Mask" (Baltic Pine Films, Latvia), a series about the Soviet surgeon Nikolay, caught between groundbreaking procedures and KGB espionage.

Sergei joined us in 2024 for the workshops "European Co-Production" and "The Art of Negotiating Agreements", and to prepare for the pitch, he also used our eTraining "The Art of Pitching", available to all participants of Seriesly Berlin Pitches. A great example of how our training keeps paying off long after the workshop ends. Congratulations, Sergei!
