After kicking-off the 17th edition with the call for the Co-Production Forum targeting narrative features, documentaries and short animation projects in development, WEMW 2027 is happy to announce a new round of calls for five different programmes designed to secure festival premiere & international distribution, as well as fuel creativity and drive the industry forward.
From today, it is possible to apply to our Works in Progress sections dedicated to feature films in post-production, to the EAVE Slate workshop on strategic company planning, as well as to a wide range of inspirational labs dedicated to new content and business models, and, last but not least, to our special programme designed for game developers and film producers.
All sections are run in close partnerships with international festivals, markets, training organisations, and thanks to the collaboration with over 30 film funds more than 80 producers will benefit from special conditions to cover their participation costs.
To maximise the chances to be selected at WEMW 2027 applicants can apply to more than one section at the same time, including the Co-Production Forum, Works in Progress, EAVE Slate, Films x Games Connection Hub as well as up to three different Inspirational Labs.

1. LAST STOP TRIESTE

Starting from today, it is possible to submit a project to Last Stop Trieste, the works in progress section run in partnership with the Trieste Film Festival dedicated to documentaries projects in a stage of fine-cut, previously developed or presented in one of our partners platform: Ex-Oriente Film Workshop, BDC Discoveries, Docu Rough Cut Boutique, Baltic Sea Docs, ZagrebDox PRO and WEMW Co-Production Forum. All selected docs will be in the running for the Film Center Montenegro Award.
2. THIS IS IT

This is IT, the works in progress section run in partnership with Trieste Film Festival and in collaboration with L’Atelier - Milano Film Network, will once again focus on feature films and hybrid works with a strong visual and artistic approach produced or co-produced by Italian producers, or coming from the East & West 2027 spotlight territories: Poland & Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands. All selected films will compete for the Laser Film Award and the M74 Award.
3. EAVE SLATE

EAVE Slate will select up to 8 European companies that are developing a slate of A/V works and will combine the EAVE group work method with a series of plenary sessions and individual consultancies focusing on strategic company planning, potential risk evaluation and company diversification.
4. INSPIRATIONAL LABS

5. FILMS X GAMES CONNECTION HUB

After a first successful pilot edition, WEMW and SpielFabrique are happy to launch the second edition of the FILMS x GAMES Connection Hub, an initiative designed to enhance the connections between the film and game sectors.
The programme is targeting up to 12 A/V producers with a game project in development who are keen to learn how the game sector works and better understand how to position, finance and distribute a game. Besides group work and individual consultations with international experts, the programme will include a matchmaking session with a group of dynamic game developers & studios from different European countries, aimed at exploring new opportunities of collaboration at project development level.
