LUBLIN: Jacek Lusiński has begun production on his drama starring Andrzej Chyra, inspired by the story of a blind teacher overcoming his disability.

PRAGUE: The premiere documentary of a US journalist based in the Czech Republic, Buried, has made global news with its revelations that 103 Torah scrolls stolen during WWII have been found in Russia.

WARSAW: Polish studio Grupa Smacznego/GS Animation is developing a film about freedom and totalitarianism through a story of hardworking mice and their oppressors, Mice on Strike. 

WARSAW: Renowned documentary filmmakers Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud are filming Les Saisons in Puszcza Białowieska.

BUDAPEST: European Film Award winner György Pálfi (Hukkle, Taxidermia, Final Cut) is already in production with Free Fall, a film that originated from a concept in November 2013.

ESTONIA: The epic war drama 1944, now halfway through a two-part filming schedule, is primed to continue a tradition of a strong box-office for patriotic war films in Estonia.

PRAGUE: Leading young Czech and international actor Jiří Mádl (Borgia, Four Suns, Colette) is finishing work on his debut film as a director and scriptwriter, the ultra-low budget To See a Sea.

SOFIA: France’s Joséphine de La Baume will star in the Ukrainian-Georgian-German-Bulgarian 2.6m EUR coproduction Ursus - The Caucasian Bear, co-written eight years ago by esteemed Georgian scriptwriter Zaza Buadze and film director/producer Otar Shamatava.

TALLINN: Sulev Keedus is shooting The Husband Slayer. The Virgin. The Shadow. (Mehetapja süütu vari), scheduled to be completed in autumn 2015.

Known for his delicate but continuing interest in the fate of the Balkan people award-winning director Kostadin Bonev is in postproduction on his third feature film The Sinking of Sozopolis (working title A Town, named Salvation).

WARSAW: False Witness, the film written by Iglika Triffonova which won the Krzysztof Kieślowski Award at the fifth edition of ScripTeast, is now shooting.  

LODZ: After a long break, renowned Polish director Grzegorz Królikiewicz makes a comeback with Neighbors, a warm, absurd comedy about extraordinary people.

WARSAW: Agnieszka Holland is in preparation with Game Count (Polish title Pokot), a crime drama which will go into production in 2014.

WARSAW: Jan Jakub Kolski will complete filming on Serce, serduszko i wyprawa na koniec świata (Heart, Heartling and the Journey To The End Of The World) at the end of November 2013.

WARSAW: Warsaw by Night produced and directed by Natalia Koryncka-Gruz completed filming in Warsaw on 12 November 2013.

BRATISLAVA: Production is nearing the end of its first phase on Live and Let Live (Ži a nechaj ziť) a Slovak political thriller inspired by real events from 1995-1996 in Slovakia.
