BUCHAREST: FNE spoke with Romanian producer Iuliana Tarnovețchi, Managing Partner at Alien Films Entertainment, about the ongoing local cash rebate programme and her last project, Sony/Columbia Pictures action thriller Ghost Soldier starring Jim Caviezel, which was shot entirely in Romania in 2025 using a 95% Romanian crew.

PARIS: Palme d’or 2026 winner Fjord directed by Romanian helmer Cristian Mungiu has scored 151,121 admissions since 19 August 2026 through its first weekend in French cinemas and including previews, distributed by Le Pacte.

BERLIN: A total of 58 participants from 25 countries on four continents, and 30 trainers, tutors, and speakers took part in the opening event of the 23rd edition of CICAE’s Arthouse Cinema Training on 24 August 2026 in Berlin, marking the biggest edition in the programme's history. 

HAMBURG: The Marché du Film will become an official partner of the International Film Distribution Summit (IFDS) for its upcoming 5th edition, which will be held 29 September – 1 October in Hamburg, Germany.

RIGA: The 13th Riga International Film Festival (RIGA IFF, 15 – 25 October 2026) will open with the Latvian minority coproduction Woman Unknown by Danish director May el-Toukhy, which was shot in Riga. It will be shortly after its world premiere at the Venice IFF on 6 September 2026, as the first Latvian coproduction to be selected for the Main Competition.
