Powerful human stories from the Baltic Sea region and world premieres of Latvian films – 9 contestants for RIGA IFF's main prize announced
Festivals 11-09-2025The epicenter of the Riga International Film Festival (RIGA IFF, 16–26 October) is the RIGA IFF Feature Film Competition, which this year will have 9 selected features from Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Ukraine, and Sweden competing for the festival’s main prize. Screenings at cinema Splendid Palace will welcome audiences to emotionally intense documentary and fiction films, exquisite examples of auteur cinema, and expressive human stories, representing different film movements, traditions, and screen languages. Tickets to the screenings are available on the festival website, rigaiff.lv or at Biļešu serviss sales points.

Participants Announced for Lithuania’s First Training Program for Emerging Film Producers ‘UP!’
Press releases 11-09-2025This October, Vilnius will host the first season of ‘UP!’, Lithuania’s only training program designed for emerging film producers seeking to launch their international careers. Taking place on October 6–10, the initiative will bring together seven promising Lithuanian producers for intensive training and networking opportunities. “UP!” is a satellite initiative of the Baltic Pitching Forum, the largest short film industry event in the Baltic States.

HAMBURG: A total of 27 projects have been selected from a record number of over 240 applications for the 8th edition of the industry event European Work in Progress (EWIP). The event will be held in Hamburg from 29 September to 1 October 2025. For the first time, EWIP will be held in Hamburg as part of the Filmfest Hamburg Industry Days in cooperation with Filmfest Hamburg and Moin Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.

SIBIU: The acclaimed documentary event Astra Film Festival has announced the selection for its five competition programmes, including a new competition section, DocShorts. The festival will be held 17 – 26 October 2025 in the heart of Transilvania and Romania, Sibiu.
