Submissions are now open for Ex Oriente Film 2015, the year-long international workshop supporting the development and funding of creative documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe.

ZAGREB: Croatian director Damian Nenadic is shooting Days of Madness, a documentary about patients suffering from mental disorders and the state of medical care in Croatia. Maja and Mladen are suffering from different mental disorders, they do not consider themselves mentally ill. Unlike other ‘patients’ mainly following strict medical advice that doesn't actually help them much, Maja and Mladen take their lives into their own hands.

KRAKOW: The acclaimed Estonian animated filmmaker Priit Pärn will be honoured with the Dragon of Dragons award for his entire creative output at the 55th Krakow Film Festival.

BRATISLAVA: A new showcase for domestic production, the Slovak Film Week, is being launched by the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA). This year it will be held from 13 to 19 April.

NICOSIA: Tetraktys Films is the only sales agent from Cyprus at MIPTV Cannes and will be hosted by Creative Europe Media. It will be at umbrella Stand P4.B1 from 13 to 16 April 2015.

Organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) and sponsored for the 11th time by AKBANK, the much anticipated Istanbul Film Festival’s 34th edition kicked off with an opening ceremony on Friday night, 3 April. The opening ceremony brought the stars and distinguished figures of the Turkish cinema together at the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center.

NICOSIA: German features dominate the international competition at the Cyprus Film Days this year - 5 out of 10 of the films shown are German productions or coproductions. The festival will be running from 17 to 26 April 2015.

On Thursday evening, “Kino Pavasaris” invited guests to attend the celebratory closing ceremony of the festival at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic. For two weeks, movie theatres in five Lithuanian cities were full of cinema enthusiasts attending screenings of exceptional films, meeting with filmmakers from around the world, and going to many other events.
