Kamen Balkanski Re-Appointed Director of Bulgarian National Film Center


    SOFIA: Kamen Balkanski, Head of Creative Europe’s Media office – Bulgaria since 2004, has been appointed Acting Director of the Bulgarian National Film Center. He is replacing Jana Karaivanova, forced to resign prematurely in pursuance of an official order issued on 17 June 2021 by the Caretaker Minister of Culture Velislav Minekov.

    Kamen BalkanskiIt is the second time Balkanski will hold this position, after having run the national film institution from 2015 to 2017.

    Kamen Balkanski holds a Master's Degree in History of Art from the National Academy of Art. He became Executive Director of the former Soros Center for the Arts in Bulgaria in 1997, where he stayed till 2002.

    He has also lectured at the National Academy of Art and gained additional experience in the audiovisual sector as Administrative Director of the former MM TV and advisor to the managers of the same broadcaster.
