The head of Croatia's Nukleus Film, launched in 2009 and expanded into Slovenia three years later, will represent Eastern Europe at the European Film Promotion Producers Lab in Toronto September 4-7.

Siniša Juričić, who co-produced the award-winning documentary Sofia's Last Ambulance, is the sole participant from the former East bloc named by EFP to join nine other European colleagues at the event. It will host 24 participants in all, who will pitch projects, consider case studies, hold roundtables and network with international film professionals amid the Toronto International Film Festival.

The lab has led to several European-Canadian co-productions in recent years: 2011 participants have considered 21 projects, while last year's group has been working on 25 film in development, most of them with concrete titles.

Producers Lab Toronto is also coordinated by the Ontario Media Development Corporation, the Toronto International Film Festival, Screen Australia and the New Zealand Film Commission. Financial support comes from the MEDIA Mundus program of the European Union and from EFP and its member organizations, including the above groups, Eurimages and Telefilm Canada.
