Obituary: Dinos Katsouridis

    {mosimage}Greek Cypriot director/editor/cinematographer/producer/writer Dinos Katsouridis died on 28 November 2011 at age 84. His death in Athens was announced on 29 November. He is credited with directing 17 films, most importantly Ti ekanes ston polemo Thanasi and Thanasi pare to oplo sou, two films notable for their political statements.

    His last film as a director was A Leftist Night's Dream (as co-director) in 1987, but he continued working as an editor until 2007. In a prolific career, he edited a total of 76 films, was cinematographer on 45 films, produced 15 films, and wrote the scripts for 14 films

    Katsouridis was born in 1927 in Lefkosia, Cyprus. He left for Greece to study medicine, but soon turned to film directing and photography.
