Czech Republic Approves Additional Funding for Film Incentives

PRAGUE: The Czech government approved 500 m CZK / 19.5 m EUR in additional funding for production incentives. The increase brings the total amount of funding in 2019 to 1.3 billion CZK / 51 m EUR.

The previous cap on funds available for film incentives, offered 20 per cent cash rebate, was reached in mid-summer, and caused Czech film service companies to lose some projects that were looking at coming to the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic is facing increasingly strong competition from other CEE territories that have raised their incentives well above the Czech rate. However, film production companies worldwide are finding it difficult to staff crews with experienced personnel.
