PRODUCTION: Miklauzic film in post-production

By Zsolt Gyenge

Hungarian director Bence Miklauzic (Sleepwalkers, 2002) and is in post-production with his second full length feature, Children of the Green Dragon (A zöld sárkány gyermekei). The theatrical release is planned for autumn or at the next Hungarian Film Week 2011 (www.hungarianfilmweek.com).

The film presents two very different people: a 45 years old Hungarian real-estate agent and a Chinese immigrant who get to know each other due to several conflicts in their life. Although the film was planned to include a two week shoot in China, a budget reduction resulted in the shoot taking place entirely in Budapest in the area where most Chinese immigrants live and work.

The film started as a Hungarian-Polish co-production, but the Polish partner has stepped out. It is produced by Mythberg Films (producer József Berger) and its budget is 160 million HUF (560,000 Euros) with 90 million HUF (315,000 Euros) funded by the Hungarian Motion Picture Association (MMKA - http://english.mmka.hu/). The film also received financial support from the Hungarian television channel TV2.

The project was presented this summer at the Works in Progress program (www.kviff.com/en/for-film-industry/works-in-progress/) of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (www.kviff.com/) to worldwide distributors and buyers. The film has already been invited to the Warsaw International Film Festival (www.wff.pl/) to be held in October this year, and there is serious world sales interest in the project.
