Vilnius Film Cluster to launch new world class production centre

By

VILNIUS: The Vilnius Film Cluster will launch a new 1000 sq m sound stage and production centre in March 2014. The 4.5m LTL project aims to cash in on Lithuania’s new tax incentives which take effect at the beginning of 2014.

The 11 member Vilnius Film Cluster project which was founded in 2011, includes Vilnius Gediminas Technical University as well as ten Lithuanian production and post production outfits. The project is partially supported by EU structural funding and headed by General Manager Aidas Akcijonaitis.

The cluster also includes 700 sq m of offices, makeup up rooms and space for post production and other facilities. There is also a 370 sq m green screen box.

“We have quite big expectations of attracting big international productions,” said Greta Akcijonaitė the project coordinator. “In the past if a really big production wanted to come to Lithuania no one company was big enough to service it, but now as a cluster we can not only service large projects we can also handle many projects at the same time.”

“We have more and more national productions in Lithuania also. There was no decent sound stage so this will really change the production landscape in Lithuania,” said Akcijonaitė.
