PRODUCTION: Polish-Israeli Coproduction Shoots in Łódź

By Katarzyna Grynienko

LODZ: Edward Etler is filming a psychological drama The Silver Fox Of Felicia T. in Lodz, with the shoot continuing through September.

The Silver Fox Of Felicia T. is based on two autobiographical novels written by the director. Both use objects to explore the reality of life in Poland in different time periods. The first one, evolving around a fox, takes place in the nightmarish times of postwar occupation. The second one focuses on a luxurious Jaguar car and is set in Poland after the political thaw of October 1956.

Etler is an accomplished Polish artist, who worked as a filmmaker mainly in the 1960's. With this film he returns to the cinema and Poland, which he left in 1968. The cast of The Silver Fox Of Felicia T. includes Evgenia Dodina, Olwk Mincer and Dorota Segda.

The film is an international co-production between the Polish company Contra Studio ( www.contrastudio.pl) and Israeli producer Marek Rozenbaum. The producer told FNE that the budget for this picture is 4.3 million PLN (EUR 1 million). The film received 600,000 PLN for development and production financing from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl). The picture received production support from the Lodz Film Commission (www.lodzfilmcommission.pl), which helped the film producers in choosing locations and getting permission to shoot in Lodz.

The Polish premiere of the picture is planned for the first half of 2012.
