PRODUCTION: TVN Medical Series Alicia's Hospital

    TORUN: Polish private broadcaster TVN had moved into production with Alicia's Hospital, a new medical drama series. The show will premiere in 2012.

    The production, filming under the working title Alicia's Hospital, will follow a young womans who is an ambitious and talented surgeon. She has a set path for her future: a brilliant medical career and marriage to her boyfirend Krzysztof. Unexpectedly, she fails to get her dream internship at a transplant ward in Warsaw and faces problems in her relationship. She decides to leave Warsaw and move to Torun, where she joins a team of young doctors and picks up her career at a local hospital. In each episode the characters will solve a different medical case and deal with troubles of their own lives.

    TVN (www.tvn.pl) is producing the show independently and plans to make 15 episodes for the first season in 2012. The broadcaster informed FNE that the shoot launched on 21 October 2011 in Torun and will probably last till the end of the year.

    The original script was written by Andrzej Staszczyk, Justyna Stefaniak and Marek Kreutz. The show is directed by Filip Zylber, who was the director for several of TVN's popular shows such as the Polish version of Ugly Betty and the daytime drama Wspólna Street. He will be co-directing with Marcin Wrona, a rising young Polish director known for his recent award-winning films My Flesh, My Blood (2009) and The Christening ( 2010).

    The show has a cast of popular Polish actors, with Magdalena Różczka in the lead, along with Piotr Polk, Danuta Stenka, Paweł Małaszyński, Szymon Bobrowski, Marcin Perchuć and Wojciech Zieliński.
