FNE at REGIOFUN: REGIOFUN Fetes Regionally Funded Films

    KATOWICE: The Spanish drama Marshland directed by Alberto Rodriguez won the first prize in the Feature Film Competition at the 6th International Festival of Film Producers in Katowice (20 -25 October 2015).

    The Short Film Competition jury awarded ex-aequo Footbal Brothers directed by Marcin Filipowiecz and Hollow Road directed by Drew Pautz.

    The International Festival of Film Producers REGIOFUN is the only event in Europe dedicated to films made with the support of regional film funds and cities. The Festival celebrates both film producers and their role in the process of creating cinema as well as the engagement of local funds in European and international film productions.

    The Jury of the Full Feature Film Competition, comprised of Robert Gliński, Leszek Dawid and Marek Rosenbaum, awarded the 10,000 EUR First Prize to José Antonio Félez, José Sánchez-Montes, Mercedes Cantero, Mikel Lejarza, and Mercedes Gamero, the producers of Marshland. The film follows the mysterious disappearance of two girls in the small city of Marshland just after the fall of Franco's dictatorship. The film was produced by  AXN, Atresmedia Cine, Atresmedia supported by Junta de Andalucia.

    The Jury of the Short Film Competition, composed of Bogdan Dziworski, Lukasz Dzieciol and Brigitta Manthey, assigned an ex-aequo First Prize to Football Brothers, directed by Marcin Filipowicz  produced by Wajda Studio with the support of the Cracow Film Commission. The short documentary produced by Adam Ślesicki, follows the lives two brothers who are working towards becoming professional football players with the help and support of their father. The second film awarded with the first prize is Hollow Road, a UK short produced by James Levison of Wingbeat Pictures with the support of Film London. The film is a fusion of thriller and drama, about a family travelling in the night who meet a mysterious hitchhiker. The two productions received 4,000 EUR each.

    The Special Mention in the Feature Film Competition and the audience award was granted to the producer of Silent Heart directed by Bille August.
