The script written by Jagoda Szelc follows Mula, who lives with her husband, a sick mother and her daughter Nina in a country house. Just before the first communion of Nina, her brother with his family and Kaja, her younger sister, who suddenly disappeared six years before, visit them. Kaja is the biological mother of Nina. Mula is afraid that the unstable Kaja wants to take the child away.
"Tower. A Bright Day tells a story of the contemporary world that needs saving and a change of values. The salvation comes as a person who seems crazy and out of step with what society deems valuable. The film is about the opportunity without the need of harming the others. What would happen if one night we could all change our way of thinking? Since we are incapable of such a shift on our own, we need guidance", said Jagoda Szelc.
The main characters are played by Małgorzata Szczerbowska, Anna Krotoska, Dorota Łukasiewicz-Kwietniewska and Rafał Kwietniewski.
The film was produced by Indeks Film Studio, a production company working in the framework of the Lodz Film School, in coproduction with Centrala, EBH Polska, Dreamsound, Heliograf and Odra Film. The budget is 500,000 EUR, of which 282,703 EUR / 1.2 m PLN came from the Polish Film Institute.
The film was shot in the Kotlina Kłodzka region in May 2016. It will premiere internationally at the Gdynia Film Festival. World sales are open.
