VILNIUS: A Lithuanian/German documentary coproduction Hello, Dear Granny!/ Liebe Oma, Guten Tag! directed by two sisters, Jūratė Samulionytė and Vilma Samulionytė, is in postproduction. The release is planned for November 2017.

OHRID: Screenwriter and director Ilija Piperkoski is shooting his debut feature film Grandpa and Grandson, produced by Pandora`s box production, in cooperation with Dream Factory and Romania’s Alien film.

PRAGUE: Katarina Krnacova, one of the rising new generation of women shaping the film industry in Slovakia, is producing Summer with Bernard, a Slovak/German/Czech coproduction that will shoot in summer 2018.

PLZEN: Vaclav Kadrnka is working on the script of a film inspired by his personal family story, Saving One Who Was Dead / Zprava o Zachrane Mrtveho, with plans to go into production in 2018.

VILNIUS: The prominent Lithuanian documentarian Audrius Stonys is in production with Baltic New Wave, working together with Latvian director Kristine Briede. Their new film about Baltic documentary filmmakers from the Soviet times was chosen as one of the winners at Meeting Point - Vilnius industry screenings. It will be shown at Cannes industry screenings this May.

BRATISLAVA: Acclaimed Slovak director Martin Šulík is shooting his new feature The Interpreter / Tlmočník. It is his first feature film after a long break following Gypsy / Cigán (produced by Titanic, In Film, and coproduced by Czech Television, RTVS) in 2011. The road movie will star Oscar-winning director Jiří Menzel and Toni Erdmann actor Peter Simonischek.

SOFIA: Ilian Djevelekov is in postproduction with his second feature film Omnipresent. The release is planned for October 2017.

SKOPJE: Macedonian documentary film director Marija Dzidzeva is in postproduction with her Macedonian/Serbian debut feature Sacrifice, produced with support from the Macedonian Film Agency and Film Center Serbia.

WARSAW: Bartłomiej Ignaciuk is currently shooting for TVN his debut feature, the romantic comedy Tax on Love. The premiere is planned for the beginning of 2018.

WARSAW: Jacek Borcuch is working on his new drama entitled Volterra and starring the famous Polish actress Krystyna Janda. Shooting is expected to launch in Italy in autumn 2017.

PRAGUE: Docudrama 10 Days in April / Luther in Worms /10 Tage im April – Luther in Worms is currently shooting on Czech locations, mainly in the historic city of Telč, that stands in for the German town of Worms. The projects is a German/Czech coproduction.

BRATISLAVA: Zuzana Liová is in development with Waiting / Čakanie, an intimate drama about a man who just turned 60 and learns that he’s dying of cancer. The principal photography of this Slovak/Czech/German coproduction is due to start in December 2017.

BRATISLAVA: Psychological drama The Cellar / Pivnica directed by Russian Igor Voloshin will start shooting in May 2017. The film is a Slovak/Russian/Czech coproduction set in Slovakia. The cast includes Slovak and Czech actors, as well as well-known Russian actress Olga Simonova.

BRATISLAVA: Director Mariana Čengel Solčanská starts developing The Maidservant / Slúžka, a strong feminist story placed in Vienna during WWI. Based on Hana Lasicová’s bestseller published in 2013, The Maidservant will be the first Slovak film ever to deal with female homosexuality.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian filmmaker Mantas Kvedaravičius is currently shooting his debut feature, the psychological drama Stasis, which is a coproduction between Lithuania, the Ukraine and France. Shooting takes place in the Ukraine, Greece, Turkey and Lithuania.

PRAGUE: Director/scriptwriter/producer Václav Marhoul starts shooting The Painted Bird in Volyn, Ukraine on 23 March 2017. The film is adapting Jerzy Kosiński’s bestseller and is a coproduction between the Czech Republic, the Ukraine, Slovakia and Poland. The film stars Czech 9-year-old Petr Kotlár alongside Stellan Skarsgård, Udo Kier and Harvey Keitel.
