PRAGUE: The Zookeeper´s Wife, a historical film produced by Universal Pictures through local Czech Anglo Productions wraps shooting on 26 November 2015. The story is based on the book by Diane Ackerman taking place during the WW2 in the Warsaw Zoo where the director and his wife are hiding Jewish citizens in abandoned buildings of the Zoo.

WARSAW: Polish producer Danuta Krasnohorska of CoLab Pictures has completed development on Love Express. The Strange Case of Walerian Borowczyk, a documentary about a critically acclaimed art house filmmaker who turned to pornography.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Juraj Nvota is in postproduction with Johanna’s Mystery, a 75-minute fairytale which will screen on public broadcasters Slovak TV and Czech TV on 24 and 25 December 2015.

WARSAW: Jacek Piotr Bławut is working on his debut film The Day Of Chocolate, which won the Krzysztof Kieslowski ScripTeast Award in Cannes IFF 2010. Studio Rabarbar is producing.

PRAGUE: An extremely popular Czech romantic comedy series Poets / Básníci with Pavel Kříž and David Matásek in the lead roles will, after 12 years, get a continuation. The series started back in the times of Czechoslovakia. The previous parts were made in the years 1982, 1984, 1987, 1993 and 2004.

JIHLAVA: Slovenian producer Danijel Hocevar of Vertigo and debuting documentary feature director Marija Zidar pitched their doc project Avenge during the Balkan Documentary Center panel during the 19th Jihlava IDFF.

JIHLAVA: Slovak documentary director and producer Peter Kerekes is in development and production with a slate of three documentaries, all of which will be international coproductions, on the heels of the world premiere of Jan Gogola’s Excursions (Peter Kerekes) in the Czech Joy competition at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival on 28 October 2015.

WARSAW: Agnieszka Holland is moving into the second stage of shooting her crime thriller Game Count, a coproduction between Poland, Czech Republic, Germany and Sweden.

LJUBLJANA: Miha Knific, whose film Four Things I Wanted to Do With You (RTV Slovenija, 2015) competed at this year's Slovenian Film Festival in Portoroz, is in postproduction with his third feature film, Perseverance.

WARSAW: Renowned Polish filmmaker Jan Jakub Kolski is directing, producing and shooting a drama with the working title Las, 4 Rano, which translates as Forest, 4 in the Morning, starring Krzysztof Majchrzak and Olga Bołądź.

VILNIUS: Director Kristijonas Vildžiūnas is completing work on his fourth feature film Seneca’s Day / Senekos Diena‚ a journey into the past as a man tries to change his present.

PRAGUE: The 5th part of the popular vampire saga Underworld started shooting in Prague on 6 October 2015. The film stars British actors Kate Beckinsale and Theo James.

PRAGUE: Dan Wlodarczyk’s feature film Green Horse Rustlers / Zloději zelených koní, based on a book under the same title by Jiří Hájíček, will soon wrap shooting. The release is planned for the fall of 2016.

RIGA: Acclaimed director Ivars Zviedris is currently working on a new project Loggers / Zāģeri, a documentary about the communities of Latvian forest workers.

RIGA: Award-winning director Dāvis Sīmanis is in postproduction with the feature My Peaceful Place of Exile / Pelnu sanatorija. The story of this Latvian/Lithuanian coproduction is set in the final year of WWI.

WARSAW: Jan P. Matuszyński started shooting Last Family, focusing on the relationship between the legendary painter Zdzisław Beksiński and his son, on 28 September 2015.
