ZAGREB: Oscar-nominated actor John Malkovich is the protagonist of a promotional film by the Croatian National Tourist Board, aimed at strengthening Croatia’s global tourism profile. The promotional film will premiere before the start of the FIFA World Cup.
BUCHAREST: Second-time Palme d’or winner Cristian Mungiu is calling for structural changes in Romanian film industry, which would primarily consist in reclaiming over 130 m EUR from gambling levies, and in building a viable distribution network.

At the 25th edition of the Tribeca Film Festival(June 3–14, 2026), the short animated film Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe! by Andrea Szelesová will be presented in the programme Shorts: Whoopi’s Wonderful World of Animation, curated by EGOT winner Whoopi Goldberg. It marks the first-ever Slovak (and Czech) short film included in the programme of this prestigious North American film festival.
